Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association’s

Honoring
Dr. Barbara Natterson-Horowitz and Kathryn Bowers
& the Kratt Brothers, Chris and Martin

Saturday, June 6, 2020
6 p.m.

Without zoos, the animals we love may soon become the animals we loved.

The Earth is now in the midst of its sixth major animal and plant extinction. The last mass extinction—approximately 65 million years ago—caused the disappearance of the dinosaurs. The best way to envision the sixth mass extinction is to simply look outside and imagine that three out of every four common species are gone.  Although extinctions are naturally occurring, the current mass extinction is unique in that it is caused almost entirely by humans and it is up to humans to reverse this tide.

The Beastly Ball, to be celebrated on Saturday, June 6, 2020 honors the pledge that your Los Angeles Zoo has made to save animals from extinction.  And your participation in the Beastly Ball is a testimony to your commitment to ensuring that wildlife has a future on our planet.  Please join us as we take you on a marvelous journey through the Zoo where you will experience iconic animals such as chimpanzees, giraffes, tigers, hippos and more, while dining on delicious food from some of L.A.’s best restaurants, surrounded by stimulating entertainment, keeper talks, and animal feedings.  The Beastly Ball has been lauded as “one of the best parties in Los Angeles” (KCBS/KCAL TV News) and “one the most important fund-raisers” (Los Angeles Times).
